Why did I decide to write a course?.

Our first online course ‘Engage more women and girls in sport’ is now complete and it seems like a good time to write about why I decided to write a course.

I’ve worked in sport for twenty years, as a volunteer, employee and business owner. Most of that time has been focused on increasing participation of women and girls. It’s something I’ve always been passionate about. That’s why Sport Sister was formed. To bring my knowledge, expertise and experience to organisations that needed help achieving their goals. It’s always been a priority of mine to share this knowledge with people working and volunteering in sport, and I’ve shared parts of it through various podcasts, blogs, newsletters and at numerous workshops and presentations.

But then I thought wouldn’t it be great to bring all that knowledge and experience into one place, and shape it into a step-by-step course where people can integrate the advice into their own environments? Something they can access online, in their own time, and refer back to as their organisation evolves and develops. And that’s where ‘Engage more women and girls in sport’ was born. I’ve made it as affordable as I can, offering payment plans if that helps, a money back guarantee if you don’t see the value in it, and some additional resources to guide you towards your objectives.

It helped that as I had that idea, Freelancer Magazine launched their ‘A Course, Of Course’ course that guided me through the process. It’s been so exciting to see it come together. Sure, recording the videos was terrifying, but I think the content is going to really help people focus on their goals for women and girls, and have a positive impact in their local communities.

I should probably link to the course now in case you want to know more, so here it is. I hope it’s useful.
