A laptop with an explosion of app icons coming out of it

In my blog post from December 2022 around my reflections and tips on running a business, I discussed the importance of making the most of the technology available to you.  It had me reflecting on how technology makes Sport Sister run more effectively and efficiently, so here are my favourite software tools that help me run Sport Sister:

1. QuickBooks.  Accounting software is essential for me in terms of providing good financial records for Sport Sister.  QuickBooks was recommended by my accountant and I find it really easy to use.  It also shows me how the business is performing compared to previous quarters or financial years and I find that to be a great way to see how the business is progressing.

2. monday.com (aff link).  This has been my best discovery!  I use monday.com for managing all of my projects and work streams, as well as using its CRM function to keep tabs on my conversations with previous, existing and potential clients.  The automations are especially helpful and I use them to give me a nudge when I have an action I need to pick up, or someone I need to make contact with.

3. Zoom. Everyone knows Zoom thanks to the past few years!  For me, I always prefer Zoom over Teams.  I find the interactive functions can really bring online training to life, and I have been part of a lot of online training using Zoom!  I also find it more reliable than some of the other options – I rarely encounter any issues with it in comparison to some of its competitors.

4. Google My Maps.  The reason I love Google My Maps is it’s so user-friendly.  I’ve used it for a lot of projects for clients where mapping is an important part of the planning process.  It’s really easy to take the data you have and turn it into something more visual.  It can help focus thinking around where to target interventions as well, and can make analysis very straightforward.

5. Microsoft To Do.  I had tried so many ‘To do list’ apps before I found Microsoft To Do, and now I use it for all of my lists (and there are a lot).  Weekly and daily to do lists; personal lists; shopping lists, the lists are endless!  You add deadlines, change priorities easily, and move things between lists.  It’s probably one of the most simplistic software tools but it does exactly what I need it to do.

I’m always on the lookout for new software tools that might benefit Sport Sister so are there any I haven’t discovered yet?  Let me know in the comments section on social media or by contacting me through our website.
